The big department stores in Japan are a legend and worth a visit when coming to Japan, their architecture is interesting, the displays and brands are amazing, it is topnotch, high end, total luxury, exceptional service, fantastic food courts on the basements AND, for Takashimaya, legendary elevator employees actioning equally legendary elevators

The building was open in 1933 as a model of modernity, replicating some of the Art Nouveau features in fashion in Europe at the time. Nowadays, with the labor shortage, the shop considered for a moment stopping the employees but that went viral and Japanese opposed firmly as this is part of the Omotenashi, Art de Vivre, Welcoming culture of Japan

This is a very nostalgic, walk around for an afternoon stroll from the Nihombashi bridge to Mitsukoshi and Takashimaya and have a a coffee in one of the backstreets places
